Lost Opportunities

This is the last of the regular series of Virtual TFG Weekends. Things are opening up, and now is the time to be focussing on bringing the Good News of Jesus to the world. People have been shaken, before it all settles again we have the opportunity to point them to Jesus. There are opportunities to be real signposts to the Lost of our land. That is the focus of this weekend.

We’re looking to Your promise of old – 2004 Seek!
Here we stand (this time revival!) – 1997 Mission:Impossible?

Reading: Matthew 9:35-38

Bible Study: Use the booklet from the 2000 weekend Signposts to the Lost (linked here) to read one or two parables and think through the Kingdom values that call us to reach out to the Lost.

Scenes from Junior Weekend 2007 – Mission:Impossible?
Psalm 61

Can a Nation be changed? – 2005 Bedrock

undefinedPrayer: Let’s pray for our nation, with the emphasis being on the Lost being saved.

For each section of these prayers I want you to focus on one thing relevant and pray about that, and aim to pray about it each day this week (if you are not in the UK why not do the same sort of thing for your own country?):

Firstly, for the UK as a whole (all the coloured bits!). Pray about national leadership (Queen, Government, etc) or something else that needs to change if our nation is to be turned back to Jesus.

Next, pray about the country you live in – Wales, Northern Ireland, Scotland or England. Pray for the national church scene in that country (the leaders of the denomination you are part of and also the other national churches). Think about particular characteristics of the English, or the Scots, or the Welsh or the Irish and ask God to show you how we can speak into those peoples.

Now pray for the County or City you are part of and pray for God to inspire the Christians there (including you) with how to bring salvation to the Lost.

Finally, think of your immediate locality or street and pray for that too.

You Can’t Touch Me – Studio Recording by From the Inside re-mastered by Adam Knight

Extract from What’s Going On?, looking at Revelation chapter 7:

“How can a loving God send people to Hell?” is often asked. Here we have the answer. He can’t, and He doesn’t. People are on their way to Hell and the loving God does everything and more to prevent them, to save them, and to restore them to the place they were created to be, in His Presence. In order to save people, He suffered and died Himself. For the Son is God, as we saw in chapters 4 and 5. The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering towards us, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. (2 Peter 3:9). “Salvation to our God who sits upon the throne, and to the Lamb.”

It’s also worth looking at the first time the word Salvation appears in the Bible. It’s the Hebrew word Yeshuah – the name Mary was told to call her Son (in Greek – Jesus). It is in Genesis 49:18. It is part of the blessing that Jacob (Israel) pronounces over his sons. It’s meaning included prosperity, blessing, salvation and victory. So the palm-waving crowd are shouting “Prosperity to God!”, perhaps equivalent to “all our possessions we give to God”. “Blessing to God” – honour and grateful thanks. “Salvation to God”, as discussed above and “Victory to God” – it’s all a bit like “Yours is the Kingdom, the Power and the Glory, for ever and ever, Amen!”

undefinedMore than ever people are asking “What’s Going On?”
For nearly 2,000 years the Book of Revelation has been providing the answer to that question.
In this eBook I help to explain some of the imagery used in Revelation and show how it summarises and reveals the message of the whole Bible.

This ebook on the Lord’s Prayer began in the form of the Weekend Booklet for the 2002 weekend Knees Worn Through. Greatly expanded since then, it takes the reader through the whole of the Lord’s Prayer in a way that makes it easy to use as a basis for all our prayer.undefined
Revival – 2000 Signposts to the Lost
Praise the Lord all the Nations – 1997 Mission:Impossible?
He is the Lord – 2004 Seek!
Thankyou (Salvation Songs) – 2000 Signposts to the Lost

I hope you’ve found these weekends to have been inspiring, useful or at least fun over the past few months. I’ve enjoyed sitting down on a Sunday afternoon and working through them and will miss them myself. However, everything I have used in producing them can be found from the following links:

Firstly, the Weekends Index page on the TFG legacy website gives you a quick way of exploring any weekends you were on yourself.

Then there is the podcast stream with all the talks from weekends over the years.

We also have a Youtube channel (I’ve lost the password to the original, but it is linked as a Channel on this one)

Finally there is a folder containing all the worship songs here (you can’t download individual songs, open the folder for the weekend you want and then download the Zip file).

Until the next time……
